Chapter Four
Don Trivette:
Trading the SPUs
Don Trivette represents a new kind of trader who is developing here in Chicago. Don trades in the pit and off the floor. He decided to try his skill at trading only after he had turned forty.
Neal: You're an S&P trader and you trade on and off the floor, correct?
Don: That's true. I trade for myself, and I will trade off the floor using the Globex terminals.
Neal: So, I imagine that the computer does not make you fearful the same way it concerns other traders.
Don: Not at all. In fact, I welcome the computer. You see, I believe that the market trades in trends, or cycles, if you prefer. A cycle includes both an up trend and a down trend to complete the ''cycle," but I often use the two terms interchangeably. I think that the market trades in cycles (trends) of different lengths. Figure 4-1 is a hypothetical illustration of the relationship between two cycles of different lengths.
