We can't wait for the day they come out with triple 25¢¢ displays. We'll finally be able to see everything we ever wanted at one time, but we'll need to move to larger offices to accommodate that "wall of monitors." |

Interestingly, we have found that you can't really take advantage of the finest resolution available on today's monitors. In order to read everything on the screen, we trade with a setting of 1280 × 1024. If we try to move up to 1600 × 1200, we simply can't read the smaller fonts. Even bifocals don't help. |

Guess what? This stuff really does matter. Without getting too technical, the speed of the video card controls how quickly information paints to your display, and the size of the video cache controls how much information is available to paint right now. The faster the card and the bigger the cache the better. This is another area where spending an extra $100 to $200 when you configure your computer can pay big dividends in speed. |

While your computer is set up to multi-task (run more than one program at a time), you should try to keep this action to a minimum while you are trading. You don't want any other computer processes going on that can slow down your critical time-sensitive informationquotes, executions, and confirmations. Try not to have any other active video graphics applications up and running on the screen. You don't want the processor busy painting something on your monitor at the wrong time. |

The bottom line here is that you don't have to rush out to "keep up with the technology Joneses" each time a new gadget is introduced. Spend your money on bandwidth, RAM, and video technology where you will see the payback. |
