We All Love the Data Vendor
Chuck Thompson is chief technology officer and senior vice-president of marketing for DBC. Mr. Thompson's views are significant in light of the future of trading Chicago style and receiving data from various vendors.
Neal: It has been said that trading is managing information. How can traders possibly manage all the information that is available during the trading day?
Chuck: Unless they have a good data vendor and software, they can't. There are over 8 million trades and quotes per day to manage. DBC servers collect all that for the user. The user is not loading a CD with gigabytes of data on his PC; he uses DBC history servers with over 10 GB of daily data.
Neal: What are the advantages of receiving data from DBC rather than CQG or Future Source?
Chuck: DBC's latest technology is two-way; they are one-way broadcast. A user can, upon demand, download a 10-year chart, every tick on a stock since it opened, as soon as he starts his system from anywhere in the world on the Internet. It's not limited,
