Meat Is Cheap
Using the Internet is key when looking for trading ideas. Here is an Internet exchange I had with another trader. When trading the Chicago markets via computer, try to be part of a news-group. If you cannot locate one, you can try Markbrown.com or Omega-list@eskimo.com. This list tends to be Omega-oriented, but you can at least ask where the other newsgroups are that have your trading interests. These same newsgroups are vitally useful when purchasing software. Why not ask the Omega list what they think of TradeStation before you make a purchase?
It's a terrific way of getting a wide variety of opinions and just maybe the real truth.
Neal: What do you think of buying feeders down at these levels?
Kevin: It's kind of my thoughts compiled from tidbits of info I hear and read.
Neal: Okay, just give me your thoughts, but specifically on the feeders.
Kevin: I hate to trade feeders because of all the variables. My observations are from a couple of sources. My father is kind of semiretired and gets a kick out of driving a truck for a cattle buyer/feedlot operator. They normally spend a month in the fall hauling feeders out of Montana (six trucks, full-blast) to Nebraska and Kansas. This year they only made a couple of trips. The reason was that the ranchers would not take the price the feedlot guys would pay.
Couple of weeks later, I get a call (it was a referral) from a major corporation that also happens to run 5000 head of mother cows in Wyoming. For the first time in 100 years, they
