look that "so-and-so made me do it." They don't want to take responsibility. So I would look for books on how to learn to take care of your own emotions. Because 95% of trading is emotional.
Neal: Duncan and I just came from the Ceres Cafe. We were wandering around looking for you.
Sid: (laughing) Not during the trading day.
Neal: It's really sad. You see guys down there at 10:15 a.m. drinking gin and tonic.
Sid: Well, you know, one of our very best locals has a philosophy, "During the week, I never touch alcohol." We tell our employees, "We can't dictate your private life, but if you're in a bar at 11 or 12 o'clock at night and you have to be on the floor by 7:20 a.m. tomorrow and you've got a little buzz on, you're not going to be functioning as a pro. You're going to be an amateur, and you're going to lose money." This is a very demanding business, physically and emotionally, and you've got to make yourself as totally ready as you can.
Neal: So, people can ask for you and you'll give them the information on how to get into the trading program?
Sid: Yes.
Neal: As an example, what pits would you recommend for Duncan here?
Sid: I would have to say to Duncan, or anyone else like him, to first come to a couple of sessions of the seminar to see how quickly he picks things up.
