Fear: I'm the fearful part of you. I come up and give you a jolt whenever you are about to do something I believe is against your best interest. I will use any method of reaching you I have available, including sending you into a frozen panic, to stop you from making a bad trade. I stand for caution, the preservation of capital, and taking things slow and easy rather than taking wild and impulse leaps. While I prefer that you use your logical, rational voice to stay disciplined, I know sometimes I must step in to save us, especially from the savage advances made by your greedy voice.
Greed: Fear, you're a wimp! Get out of my way and let me push him into action or I'll bowl you over, you shivering bowl of jelly! You think you're keeping him from making a dumb trade. But all you do is scare him until he can't see straight. I'm his desire for higher returns, more possessions, more vacationseverything that is fun and adds to his life.
I am the engine that powers the locomotive of material bliss! When he follows my voice, I will help him feel good about himself and gain the envy of others through having so much to show off. I'm every bit as powerful as you are. Where would he be without my push?
You may despise me but you just watch and see how I can lure him into taking risks in pursuit of our desire to hit it big. You think you're a match for me? I'll leave my tire tracks on your face as I run over you, jumping into those juicy Internet stocks. Even his discriminating logic can't stop me from making myself felt. I can push his good judgment into taking a bigger risk. And when the risk works out, he loves me, so don't fool yourself.
Fear: There you go again, always trying to intimidate me, always acting like the big shot, throwing your weight around, as if you know what's right for him. Can't you see how many times he's lost money by acting on your voice, when he didn't hear or act on me?
Can't you see how much of who you are is just bravado, trying to live up to some image? You lead him to take chances that could cost him large amounts of money. Give me a break! And stop screaming at me, you loud-mouthed blow-hard.
