All in all, the changes in the philosophy and teaching methods seemed to be a reflection of a maturing industry two years later, trying to address some of the concerns and criticisms that had been aimed at it by the press and government agencies.
For Traders and Serious Investors: the Home Office
The home office setting provides the greatest degree of autonomy and freedom for the online investor. In this setting, you may configure your environment to suit your trading style and comfort. You are under no pressure or suggestion to make a certain number of trades or risk amounts of money you may not be comfortable with. You may learn and trade at your own pace, in your own way, and may divide your time between trading and other work interests, as you wish.
Advantages of the home office setting include the following:
Convenience of coming and going as you please, taking breaks as desired, without the demand characteristics of the trading room.
Comfort of your own personal space versus commuting to an office building.
Familiarity with your personal computer system's hardware and freedom to choose software and connection as desired.
Higher comfort level without intimidation factor of competitive trading room.
Higher degree of focus of attention without distraction of others for those who prefer a quiet work setting and to work alone.
The ability to watch TV, listen to music, or mildly distract yourself in any other way you see fit that is not possible in a trading room.
Potential nourishment of home setting: do other tasks like gardening, reading, making lunch, etc., when you wish to take break from following the market.
No monthly seat charge as with some trading rooms.
Freedom to access "virtual mentoring" for follow-up education and guidance, lessening isolation (see the following) and providing support.
